Delores “Dee” M. Balas

Delores “Dee” M. Balas, 85, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Sunday December 17, 2023. She was born October 22, 1938 in Taunton, MA.

Dee retired from Warren Hospital and was the Director of Billing. She started the Phillipsburg Canasta Club that is still going after more than 50 years. She was also a Red Hat and held the position of Queen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and was loved dearly by her many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

Dee loved visiting her family and friends, and going to the casino.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Antonio Silva and Mary (Ferris) Silva, Brothers, James Silva and Robert Silva.

She is survived by her Husband of 37 years Frank Balas, Daughters Darlene Pinto and fiancé Tom Hancewicz of Whitehall, PA, Wanda Callari and husband Bruce of Oakland, NJ, Stepson Mark Balas of Allentown, grandson Scott Ernst, granddaughter Renee Callari and great grandson Sebastian Ernst, sister Patricia Pelletier of Lincoln, RI, brother Frank Silva and aunt Alice Perry of Taunton.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10 – 11 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg, NJ, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. The interment will be private.
