Elizabeth “Betty” Beruta
Our beloved Elizabeth “Betty” Beruta, 94, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed on January 20, 2024 at the Lopatcong Care Center.
Born October 21, 1929, in Alpha, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Francisco Vasquez and Elizabeth Smith. She was predeceased by her husband, the late Michael Beruta Sr., who passed in 2002. In December of 1997, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, given by their children, at the Aspen Inn in Bethlehem, PA.
Elizabeth was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Alpha, NJ where she volunteered for many years on the church pierogi and ethnic food sale committees.
She is survived by her sons; Frank Beruta and wife Patricia, Terry Beruta; her daughter Joanne; and daughter-in-law Denise Beruta, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Spinozzi and his companion Michelle. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by children; Michael Beruta Jr., Janet Olah, and Daniel Beruta, as well as brothers, Louis Spinozzi, Frank Vasquez, and sister, Helen Brunell.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 924 2nd Avenue in Alpha, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church at 1034 2nd Avenue, Alpha. The interment will be at the church cemetery, also in Alpha.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.
