Frederick W. Newman Sr.

Frederick W. Newman Sr., 75, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away December 27, 2023 at St. Luke’s – Warren Campus.

Born February 22, 1948, in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Louis Newman and Dorothy Deemer Newman Slack. He was also predeceased by a son, the late Frederick W. Newman Jr., who passed in 2022.

He was an employee of the Phillipsburg Housing Authority and was previously employed at Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe, now McWane Ductile, also in Phillipsburg. Fred was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and was well known for the care he put into the benches he made. He was an active football and baseball coach with the Steel Hill Athletic Association and was a member of Liberty Hose in Easton and the YMIA in Phillipsburg.

He is survived by his wife, Terry L. Schriner Newman, and children; Brandy Newman, Krystal Newman, and Erika Newman. Grandchildren are Jasmine Newman, Ryan Newman, Coral Eck, Bradley Frankenfield, and Katrina, as well as a brother, Billy Newman. In addition to his parents and son, he was also predeceased by a sister, Janet Davis, and a brother, Larry Newman.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 4-6 pm at the Finegan Funeral Home at 302 Heckman Street in Phillipsburg. Funeral services and interment will be private.
