Jean E. Haring

Jean E. Haring, 80, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on August 31, 2023 at St. Luke’s Warren Hospital with daughters by her side.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Phillipsburg, born on June 27, 1943 to the late Allen and Myrtle (Wilhelm) Miers. She was married on October 26, 1963 to the love of her life, the late Russell E. Haring. They enjoyed 57 years together before Russell’s passing in April 2021. Surviving Jean are her three cherished daughters, Lori Crouse, Melissa Lilly and Shirley Dilts; her sons-in-law who she loved as her own, BJ Lilly and Kevin Dilts; and her five grandchildren who were her whole world, Connor and Emily Lilly, Steven Crouse, and Ryan and Luke Dilts. She is also survived by her twin brother, Richard Miers and his wife Joann. She was predeceased by her sister, Grace Strausser.

Jean was a 1960 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. She also graduated from Empire Beauty School and worked as a beautician in Easton, Pennsylvania and from her home after becoming a mom. Jean was a homemaker while her daughters were young. She eventually went back to work as a paraprofessional in the Phillipsburg School District. Jean retired in 1995 to help care for her grandchildren.

Jean was a member of Pilgrim Presbyterian Church. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband, Russell, were inseparable after his retirement. Jean always loved attending her grandchildren’s activities while they were growing up and visiting them at college.

Finegan Funeral Home in Phillipsburg is handling arrangements. A calling hour will be held Thursday, September 7, at 10:00 am with a remembrance of life service to follow at 11:00. Jean will be laid to rest with her husband at Fairmount Cemetery in Phillipsburg.
