Margaret A. “Dolly” Spinozzi, 97, of Alpha, NJ, passed away on February 18, 2024.
Born January 23, 1927, in Alpha, she was the daughter of the late William Wismer and Margaret Sikra Wismer. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 72 years, the late Louis J. “Boobie” Spinozzi, who passed away in 2019. Dolly lived her entire life in Alpha.
She retired in 1988 from Ingersoll Rand’s Turbo Department; previously she was employed at Phillipsburg National Bank in Alpha. During her retirement she worked in the Howell School cafeteria.
Dolly was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpha.
Dolly was an active member of the Alpha community her entire life. She was a member of the John Dolak American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and held the position of president for 4 terms. Some of her fondest memories include the establishment of the John Dolak Memorial Pool, organizing fundraiser bus trips to Atlantic City, Christmas parties and dancing the night away with her Boobie. In her younger years she was involved in the Alpha Firehouse Ladies Auxiliary.
Dolly loved traveling, gambling, cooking Hungarian food, baking and spending time with her grand-children and great-grandchildren. Known as “Nanny”, she loved her family.
She is survived by her son, Louis Spinozzi, and grandchildren; Tricia Shoudt and husband Daniel, Melissa Zaccheo and husband Matthew, and Michael Spinozzi. Great grandchildren are Nicholas, Colin and Logan Shoudt, and Stella, Lena, and Jude Zaccheo. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Spinozzi.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 10 – 11 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 924 2nd Avenue in Alpha, with a funeral service beginning at the funeral home at 11:00 am. The entombment will be at St. Mary Mausoleum.
