Mary M. Decker

Mary M. Decker (née Clyborn), of Phillipsburg, N.J., passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Monday, February 13, 2023 from complications associated with cancer.

Mary was born on February 3, 1943, in Laverne, Okla., to the late Esther Clyborn (née Borman) and the late Robert "Bob" Clyborn. She recently celebrated her 50th Annual 30th Birthday.

Mary graduated from high school in Laverne, Okla. She was third in her class, voted Best All-Around, and selected for an internship with the U.N. Mary attended college at Oklahoma State University--Stillwater and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. In college, she studied Business and English and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She met her husband, David N. Decker, while attending Northwestern in Fall, 1962. 

Mary is survived by her beloved husband, David, of 59 years and their children, D. Jason Decker, Melissa D. Decker, Grace D. Haskin, and Stephanie D. Guedj.

Mary was a well-rounded musician. She played seven instruments; she especially loved the piano and organ. Throughout high school and college, she taught music and served as a worship performer for three churches. She worked at an accounting office and later as a bridal consultant at The BonTon. Mary dedicated most of her adult life to homemaking and entertaining. She participated in Secret Sisters, the Red Hatters, multiple card and gaming groups (Bridge was her best-loved), as well as numerous clubs: New Comers, Gourmet, and Investment. Mary belonged to Fellowship Church in Lopatcong. Her favorite pastimes included shopping, sharing stories over tea, playing pranks on her husband, attending Broadway musicals, and telling colorful jokes.
