Sharon K. Smith
Sharon K. Smith, 66, of Pohatcong Township, NJ, passed away on August 22, 2023, at her residence.
Born November 16, 1956, in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late C. Russell Smith and Mary Herstine Smith.
She was a graduate of both Phillipsburg High School and California Polytechnic State University. Sharon was the agricultural teacher at Phillipsburg High School for many years and also served as the school’s Future Farmers of America advisor. She was also active on the Smith Dairy Farm with her family.
She was a member of the Stewartsville Grange #121, the Pohatcong History & Heritage Society where she served as the society’s secretary, as well as a member of and secretary on the Pohatcong Township’s Historic Preservation Commission.
Additional memberships include: the NJ State Grange, NJ Farm Bureau, NJ Agricultural Society, NJ Holstein Association, and the St. Edwards R.C. Church.
She is survived by her brother, Russell Smith, also of Pohatcong Township, and nieces and nephew; Lauren McGinley and husband Shane, Russell Smith and wife Allison, and Savannah Emsweller and husband Adam.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9-11 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 924 2nd Avenue in Alpha, NJ with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 at the funeral home. The interment will be at the St. Philip & St. James Cemetery in Greenwich Township, NJ.
