Dr. Sandra Elizabeth Moore

Dr. Sandra Elizabeth Moore, died with grace on October 29, 2021 with dear friends and family by her side.  She was 76 years old. 

Sandy was wonderful, remarkable and touched the lives of many caring and devoted friends.  She was blessed with a loving brother Peter G. Moore and his daughters, Elizabeth Lee Moore and Katherine Lindsay Moore. Her life was dedicated to her adopted Alpha, New Jersey extended family of Elizabeth and Wayne Pesaresi. Her special joy was her close relationship with her Godson Erinn Pesaresi, his wife Danielle and their three beautiful daughters whom she cherished.

Dr. Moore was a dedicated, life long educator. She was a trailblazer and role model for women in her field.  She held several academic degrees including Doctor of Education from Rutgers University.  She taught Elementary Education in the Bridgewater-Raritan School District prior to accepting the position as Chief School Administrator at Alpha Public School in 1978.  She retired in 2003 after twenty-five years of service.  Sandy continued her contributions by educating young adults as Dean of Academic Support at Centenary University in Hackettstown, New Jersey.  Her career culminated as she served as a member of the Board of Education of Lopatcong Township. 

Dr. Moore also devoted her life to helping others.  She started the Footprints Ministry which provided support to those diagnosed with cancer.  She was a leader of Sam’s Spirit which raised awareness of organ donations.  She was an active member of Partners in Healing.   She was a truly devoted servant of Saint Mary Catholic Church.  Lastly, Sandy trained the love of her life, her precious Ollie, as a therapy dog.  Together they regularly visited nursing and emotional care facilities to bring unlimited love and warmth to those in need.  In short, Sandy’s capacity for acts of love and kindness was infinite.   

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Finegan Funeral Home, 924 Second Avenue, Alpha, NJ.  Services will begin on Friday November 5, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, then please join us for a Mass of Christian Burial for Sandy at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 830 Fifth Avenue, Alpha, NJ.  Interment will follow at Saint Mary Catholic Church Cemetery.
