Edna May Zocchi

Edna May Zocchi, 94, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, peacefully at home in Annandale, NJ surrounded by family. Known as “Mimi” to those who loved her, Edna was the heart and soul of her family.

Edna was born July 3, 1927, in Phillipsburg, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Alice (Gebhardt) Stoken. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Angelo Zocchi, her sister Evelyn Dalrymple, her brother Martin Stoken, and her loving daughter Carol A. Brandt.

Edna was a talented seamstress and last worked at A&H Factory in Easton upon retiring in 1992 after which she took a lifelong wish trip to Hawaii. Prior to that, she was busy raising her children and working on the family dairy farm in Harmony Township, NJ. She loved taking family vacations at the Jersey shore and in earlier years took her children on trips to NYC to the famous landmarks with a street map in hand.

Mimi was always putting a smile on everyone’s face and keeping their hands, feet and head warm with her hats, gloves, slippers and scarves which were all perfectly crocheted with her unconditional love and many of which were donated to cancer centers. She made many intricate doilies which will remain family treasures for generations. Mimi was always ready to take on the challenge of a photo and a special request, “Mimi, can you make this for me?” She also enjoyed paper crafting, and everyone looked forward to receiving her handmade Christmas and Birthday cards each year. Mimi had a “green thumb” and would immerse herself each spring with planting her flower gardens. Her driveway was lined with Daffodils each spring. Indoors she loved African violets and orchids and her Christmas cactus was always in bloom at just the right time. She also enjoyed baking and candy making and loved all her cat and dog family members. She always kept herself busy with new projects but above all things previously mentioned, her greatest love was that of her family. Mimi enjoyed every second spent with her family and was able to do that for all 94 years at home. Everybody wanted to be with Mimi because she made them smile and they made her happiest.

Edna (“Mimi”) is survived by her daughter Patricia Kot and son-in-law Doug Weite, daughter Kathleen Bala, and son, Ronald Zocchi and his wife Stacy, her grandchildren; Julie, Joelle, Travis, Brianne, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, Zachary, and Alex, her great grandchildren: Tayler, Riley, Duncan, Anna, Miles, Jonah, Charlotte, and Madison and her great-great Grandchildren: Chase, Adam, and Luke.

A Calling Period is scheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 10 to 11 AM, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman Street, Phillipsburg, NJ, with a Memorial Service to directly follow. The inurnment will then be at St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, via stjude.org/donate.
