Genevieve A. Bolcar

Genevieve Ann Bolcar (Jeanie) of Phillipburg, NJ passed away on Friday, January 21st at the age of 92, in the company of her family.

Born November 17, 1929 in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the only child of Francis B. Moule and Genevieve Agnew Moule.  Her parents raised her late cousin, Margaret Ann Walden McFadden, who was like a dear sister to her.   Jeanie married Edward G. Bolcar on June 27, 1953 and celebrated 49 years of marriage, until his death in July 2002.

Jeanie graduated from St. Philip & St. James Parochial High School in 1947, and obtained her Registered Nurse degree from Misericordia School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1951. She also attended Seton Hall University and Trenton State College for graduate classes.

Jeanie worked as a nurse at Misericordia Hospital, and then returned home to work at the original Warren Hospital on Wilbur Avenue.  Later she was a Public Health Nurse for the town of Phillipsburg.  In that capacity, Jeanie was the school nurse for St. Philip & St. James grammar school and high school.  She also served as a Public Health nurse for Greenwich and Franklin Townships.  Jeanie loved working with patients, and was especially fond of bedside care, and educating patients and their families on medical care.

In her earlier years, Jeanie was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Philip & St. James Church, an officer and member of the Junior Auxiliary of Warren Hospital, a very active member of the SPSJ PTA, and she volunteered as a teacher of English as a Second Language for SPSJ.  Jeanie was also a member of SPSJ Over 50’s Club, a Court Warren Catholic Daughter for over 68 years, the Phillipsburg Senior Center and the AARP.

Jeanie and her husband traveled extensively in North America, and visited many countries abroad.  They especially enjoyed attending all of their son’s football games at the University Of Notre Dame.

Jeanie enjoyed reading, traveling, swimming, playing the piano and playing cards, especially her monthly card club with friends, from as far back as first grade, and weekly bridge games at the Phillipsburg Senior Center.  She loved attending plays and shows in New York City with her friends and family.

Her greatest joy was her Catholic faith, attending church and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jeanie is survived by her sons Brian Bolcar of Raleigh, NC, Ned Bolcar and his wife Carolyn of Warren, NJ and her daughter Jean Bolcar Spencer of Phillipsburg, NJ along with grandchildren Emma and Sophie Spencer and Cash and Vivienne Bolcar.
