Born in Heidelberg, Germany on June, 18, 1929, Heinz was the only child of the late Wilhelm and Frieda Leonhardt Engelhardt. He endured WWII as a child, then immigrated to the United States in 1955 at the age of 26.
Heinz was a dedicated and loving husband and father; he is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elisabeth Fuchs Engelhardt; their daughter, Babi Christina and their son, Michael Wilhelm. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Lily, Derek, Emma and Ryder. Heinz was sponsored by an US Army Major, came to Union, New Jersey, and worked as an auto repair mechanic. At a local German club he was fortunate to have met the love of his life, his adoring wife Elisabeth; theirs was an extraordinary blessed and happy life together.
In 1967 Heinz helped establish Kaltenbach Industries, a German steel cutting and metal machine company in the United States, becoming a successful sales engineer and machine mechanic until his retirement. Heinz was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed by many. His smile and humor was infectious and joyful. There will be a celebration of his life in June of 2021.
