Irene M. (Yanci) LaCaruba

Irene M. (Yanci) LaCaruba ,age 92, of Alpha, N.J., passed away on June 24, 2020, at her home.

Born on December 19, 1927, in Phillipsburg, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Yanci and Sophia (Stana) Yanci of Czechoslovakia.

Irene was a 1945 Graduate of Phillipsburg High School.  She retired from Ingersoll Rand in 1995.  She volunteered as a New Jersey Long-Term Care Ombudsman and with Catholic Charities for many years.

Irene was a member of St. Mary's Church, Golden Age Club, Over 50's of Saints Philip and James, Catholic Daughters, and First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, John, their children; Christine, Craig, Lynn, and Lisa and their spouses Rick, Colette, and Jim, respectively. Irene is also survived by her six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, especially Neil and Sue Gallagher who were so good to her.  She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary, Steve, Anne, and Andy. Her two cats, Barney and Daisey were her beloved furry friends.

Services will be decided at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Finegan Funeral Home.
