Irene "Reni" Francis Hill passed away May 11, 2020, in Easton, Pennsylvania, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The family would like to thank the staff at Country Meadows of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and The Gardens for Memory Care in Easton, Pennsylvania, for their care and kindness.
Reni was born to the late Walter & Irene (Jankowski) Zacharias on September 20, 1940 in Wayne, Michigan. There, she attended St. Mary's High School, where she was a cheerleader and began many life-long friendships. While working at Burroughs Corporation in Plymouth, Michigan, she met the late Charles "Chuck" Hill, and they were married on January 31, 1965. They started their family in Garden City, Michigan, before eventually moving to Phillipsburg, New Jersey, in 1979. Reni worked at Laneco in Pohatcong Township, where she proudly retired from and was well known as “The Toy Lady”.
She loved her family and friends dearly, and treasured spending time with them in card club, and frequent deck parties. Reni will be remembered for her smile, laughter, and sense of humor. She was an avid sports fan, participating in bowling leagues, and cheering for local and national football teams, particularly the University of Michigan. She especially loved playing golf with Chuck and their friends or family -- wherever their travels took them, and whenever they had time and weather permitted.
Reni is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Sandra Hill of Kirkland, Washington; son and daughter-in-law David and Adrian Hill of Phillipsburg, New Jersey; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Tammy Hill of Stewartsville, New Jersey; sister-in-law Rosalie Zacharias; sister-in-law Jess Zacharias; sister and brother-in-law Carol and Peter Maher; sister-in-law Verna Hill; sister-in-law Edna Mudry; and sister-in-law Barbara Lantz. She is also survived by grandchildren Jacqueline, Tyler, Brandon, and Caleb; along with nieces and nephews from the Zacharias and Hill families. Reni was predeceased by her husband Charles; brother, Donald; and brother, William.
With current conditions, there will not be a memorial service in the near future. In the meantime, please take a moment to remember fond times spent with Reni. She will be greatly missed.
