James J. McGowan

James J. McGowan, 88, of Wilson Borough, Pa., passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on September 21, 2023 at St. Luke’s, Easton Campus.

Jim was born on March 12, 1935 in Scranton, Pa., a son of the late Martin and Gladys Stone McGowan.

Jim worked at Bickley’s as a sales trucking manager for 25 years. He was a longtime member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. Jim graduated from Easton High School Class of 1953 and attended Lafayette College.

Jim was very civic minded, he was a member of the Easton Area Jaycees, Lehigh Valley Traffic Club, Delta New N.U. Alpha Transportation Fraternity. He was a member of the Wilson Borough Lions Club, and the Easton Area Joint Sewer Authority. Jim is a Wilson Borough Councilman serving from 2002 to the present.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ditze and his grandson, Martin McGowan.

James is survived by his loving wife, MaryLou Salem McGowan, his beloved children; Michele Delserro and her husband Sam of Palmer Twp., Pa., Kathleen McGowan of Nazareth, Pa., Michael McGowan and his wife, Diane of Bushkill Twp., Pa., and Lisa Stocks and her husband George of Wilson Borough, Pa. Jim is also survived by his adoring grandchildren; Jacque (Chris), Maura, Samantha (Mike), Korrine (Gabriel), Tyler, Nadean (Dan), Morgann (Jay), Tabitha (Joel), Alex (Jenna), and Kammeron (Francis). Jim is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Twp., Pa. Interment will then follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp., PA.
