James R. McGinley

Jim was born on June 11, 1951 in Easton, Pennsylvania to James R. McGinley, Sr. and Jane (Bussenger) McGinley. He was a lifelong resident of Easton until moving with his family to New Ringgold, Pennsylvania in 2015.

He attended Wilson High School before graduating from Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia in 1969. He then went on to attend St. Leo University in St. Leo, Florida and later attended Moravian College.

For more than thirty years, he worked at McGinley Mills, the Phillipsburg, New Jersey-based textile manufacturing company founded by his grandfather, where he ultimately became principal owner and chief executive. He always had a passion for cars, purchasing and selling fine automobiles as a hobby. After selling McGinley Mills in the early 2000s, he turned his passion for cars into an entrepreneurial endeavor, owning and operating automobile dealerships until just before his death. Jim also loved to fly and was a private pilot for many years, taking his first solo flight and earning his pilot's license when he was a teenager.

Jim was a well-known and well-liked member of the Easton community. He was a man of quiet strength and wisdom, with a noble and gracious manner, always ready with a quick smile, disarming humility, and wonderful sense of humor. He was devoted to his wife Stephanie, his sons David and Adam, his daughter Lindsey Nicole McGinley, who pre-deceased him in 2014, his grandson, Braden, and his nieces Lauren and Carrie.

Jim is survived by his wife, Stephanie (Smith) McGinley & grandson Braden McGinley of New Ringgold; his son David McGinley & his wife Daneen (Border) McGinley & their daughters Samantha & Cassandra of Palmer Twp.; his son, Adam McGinley & his wife Teva (Enea) McGinley of Palmer Twp.; his nieces Lauren Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina & Carrie Smith of Philadelphia, both of whom he raised as daughters from 2009 upon the untimely passing of their father, Jeffrey Smith (Jim's brother-in-law); his sister Jan McGinley of Wilson Borough & her son Matthew; & his brother Jack McGinley of Bethlehem, & his children Sean, Christian & Katlin.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be held privately on Friday, February 26, 2021 at The Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Highway, Palmer Twp., Pennsylvania.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in Jim's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/)
