A Funeral Mass will be held at St Phillip and James Church, 430 South Main St in Phillipsburg, NJ at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 25, 2022.
Loretta was born on August 5, 1947 in Queens, New York. She earned a BSN from Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City. She proudly provided care in her career including school nurse and athletic training services at Phillipsburg Catholic High School and public health care for Warren County Public Health Nursing Agency in Washington, NJ.
Loretta is survived by her son James and daughter-in-law Tonya and children Kara and Liam; son Brian and daughter-in-law Nicole and children Sean, Anna, and Kate; son Eric and daughter-in-law Linda and children Hailey, Luke, and Ella all of Harmony Township, NJ. She will also be greatly missed by her longtime partner and companion John Pene of Mt Bethel, PA, her brother Fr. James Tighe of Queens, NY, and her best friend Nancy Sciascia of Harmony Township. She was “a second mom” to countless others for whom she provided love and guidance.
Loretta enjoyed a lifetime of caretaking to whoever needed it, whether family, friend, or community member in need-- human or cat or dog. She was honest with her opinions, whether you wanted to hear it or not, but was usually right. She loved watching her children’s, and in later years her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was active in a book club and loved the Delaware River. Loretta was intelligent, and felt it her duty to remain informed, reading the newspaper every day. She never let us forget the importance of tradition and family time: you had to be there for cocktail hour and salad before family dinners and you had to wear green on St Patrick’s Day.
In true Loretta fashion, please do not send flowers. Instead, a donation to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Rd., Easton, PA (phone 601-252-7722) would fill her heart with joy.
