Mary Celia
Mary Celia, 87, a longtime past resident of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on July 2nd, 2022.
Born in Petrizzi, Italy, on September 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Victoria Giorla Cilurso. Mary was predeceased by her husband Antonio Celia in 2019 and their daughter Mary Louise Sharpe in 2005.
Mary was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg most of her life. She volunteered for Catholic Charities and Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening.
She is survived by her son Anthony Vince Celia and his wife Mary, her grandchildren are Anthony J. Celia, Jennifer Prokopiw and her husband Pete, Aimee Davidson and her husband Dan and Lauren Sharpe. Her great-grandchildren are P.J. Prokopiw, Kenzie and Connor Davidson. Nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her husband and daughter, she was also predeceased by her brother Marziale Cilurso and her sister Gilda “Jill” Dagon.
Upon Mary’s wishes, a private viewing will be held, however friends and family are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 10 am on Wednesday July 6, 2022 at St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 430 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, NJ. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery in Greenwich Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of to The Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice at karenannquinlanhospice.org
