Mary Fortner

Mary Fortner, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, January14, 2022, in Palmer Township, PA.  

Mary was born on June 5, 1925, in Bethlehem, PA, to Wilma and Stephen Spilak.  She was married to Donald Fortner until his death in 1977.  They had four children and raised their family in Phillipsburg, NJ. 

Mary was a homemaker for most of her life, but she worked for a few years in the cafeteria at the Phillipsburg Middle School.  She was a wonderful, loving woman who was dearly loved by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her three children; daughter, Lois Snyder and husband Eugene (Butch) Snyder, with whom she resided, son, Randy Fortner and wife Julia and son, Brian and wife Gena; her grandchildren; Kim Snyder, Amesbury, MA, Leslie Lawson and husband Josh, Fairfax, VA, Nicholas Ferretti and wife Christine, Alpha, NJ and Makenna Fortner and Ava Fortner and her great grandchildren; Amelia and Anthony Ferretti and Henry Lawson.  She was predeceased by her daughter Donna and son-in-law Sante (Sandy) Ferretti of Alpha, NJ.

A Viewing is being held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 10 to 11 AM at the Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman Street, Phillipsburg, NJ, with a Funeral Service to directly follow. The interment will then be at the Greenwich Cemetery, Stewartsville, NJ.
