Patricia Claire Broscius

Patricia Claire Broscius died early Wednesday morning in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 22, 1955 in Easton and was a resident of the Lehigh Valley for all of her life. Pat attended St. Jane’s School in primary school and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Bethlehem Township in 1973. She holds undergraduate degrees from Northampton Community College and DeSales University, and her Juris Doctorate from Widener University Law School which she earned in 1990. Pat’s education was of the utmost importance to her; she graduated with honors in each of her academic successes.

Patricia worked for the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office for 25 years; she retired as the chief prosecutor of the Sexual Assault/Child Abuse units in 2014. She consequently ran for and was elected Magisterial District Judge in Bethlehem Township in 2016. Pat was a force to be reckoned with in the courtroom as an attorney; yet she showed compassion and was stoic with those who appeared before her while she was on the bench as MDJ. Throughout her careers, Pat displayed strong dedication, tact, and fortitude in fighting for victims’ rights and upholding justice in the cases she handled.

Pat loved staying active, taking runs or walks around her neighborhood or on local trails with her daughter or the family dogs, gardening and spending time enjoying nature, creative pursuits in the arts, and was an avid reader, music and podcast lover, as well as a devout member of the Catholic faith. Beyond these interests, Pat’s life was dedicated to parenting her three children, Dan, Claire, and Joe. Her children were the light of her life, spending time with them and being a mother, parenting them with unconditional love, kindness, and support was what she did best.

Patricia is predeceased by her mother, Claire (Abert) Broscius, her father, James Broscius, Sr., her older brother, James Broscius Jr., her husband, John Rybak, and brother-in-law, Ronald Brophy. She is survived by her three children, twins, Claire and Dan, and Joe, as well as Joe’s fiancée, Jordan Tucker. Along with her children, Pat leaves behind younger brother, David, sister-in-law, Jane Broscius, with a niece, Kathleen, and nephews, Thomas and James. She also leaves behind countless individuals that she has met throughout various stages of her life, friends, coworkers, and colleagues whose lives she’s impacted immeasurably. Pat will never be forgotten; she lives on in the hearts of many.
