Susan J. Willoughby, 75, of Nazareth, PA, formerly of North Plainfield, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest.
Born on September 10, 1946, in Irvington, NJ, she was mother to Jen and grandmother to her beloved grandson, Nate.
Sue graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1964. Her kind, giving nature led her to pursue a career in nursing. She went on to graduate from Newark Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in 1967 and had a successful career as a nurse for 40 years. The majority of that time was spent as a well-loved, perioperative nurse at Overlook Hospital.
Sue met the love of her life, Tony Willoughby of Cardiff, Wales, in 1986. They were married shortly after a whirlwind romance, until his passing in 2001.
Sue loved to travel and go out to eat as much as she liked a good coupon or sale. She relished in reading good books at the pool or the beach and enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows - like the Food Network and Doctor Pol. She was practical, down to earth, and saw things for what they were. She took great care of her dogs and cats and they brought her much joy throughout her lifetime. Her greatest happiness was being able to watch her cherished grandson Nate grow up, he meant everything to her.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Studley and Helen Gruchalla, and husband Tony Willoughby. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Bentley, grandson, Nate Orlando, stepson, Martin (Julie) Willoughby and their children of Cardiff, Wales, sister, Barbara Studley of Alpha, NJ, brother, Jeffery (Terri) Studley of Austin, MN, nieces, Rachel and Sarah and nephew, TJ, many cousins and other extended family members, as well as close friends.
A Viewing is being held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 9 to 11 AM, at the Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman Street, Phillipsburg, NJ, with a Funeral Service to directly follow. The interment will then be at the Bloomsbury Cemetery, Greenwich Township, NJ.
Memorial donations may be made to Outcast Rescue, PO Box 12, Catasaqua, PA, 18032 (or www.outcastrescue.com). Please enjoy memories of Sue while having a cup of coffee, or better yet a glass of wine, Sue would approve.
