Brian Richard Dominic, 71, of Palmer Township, PA, formerly of Phillipsburg, passed away on March 17, at home with his fiancé at his side, after his battle with cancer. Born July 27, 1952, in Phillipsburg, Brian was the son of the late Thomas J. Sr. and Yolie (Breda) Dominic.
Brian graduated from Phillipsburg High School and was a three-sport athlete at PHS. He was their scholar-athlete in 1970 and was recognized as a part of the Star Ledger and Newark News Group 4 2nd team and received AP honorable mention all-state honors for football. His athletic and academic achievements awarded him a full football scholarship to the University of Maryland. In November 2016, Brian was inducted into the Phillipsburg Easton Football Hall of Fame highlighting his 1969 MVP award. Brian will be inducted into the Phillipsburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame in April 2024.
Brian worked for Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg and was then a courier for many years. He had a passion for writing and was a self-published author of several novels. He collaborated with other authors throughout the country, contributing to parts of their literary works. He was an avid reader and appreciated life expressed through the words of writers and poets. He enjoyed golfing, live music, being a fan of all sports, and watching westerns and musicals. His greatest joys were spending time with his fiancé, children, and grandchildren, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and taking long walks with his dog Guidry.
Brian is survived by his fiancé Michelle Chipaloski; daughters, Sarah Fontanez (Tony) of Bethlehem, PA, and Hannah Ryan (Greg) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; his grandchildren, Antonio, Dominic, Alexa and Jake; his nephew Tom III (Joy), niece Danielle Dayton (George) and great nephews and nieces Tom IV, Isabella, Abrielle and Georgie. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Antoinette (Toni) Dominic. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Dominic, Jr., who passed in 2017.
A memorial service will be held March 22, 2024, from 11:00-1:00 in Finegan Funeral Home, Inc., Phillipsburg, NJ. Interment will be held privately. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at Finegan Funeral Home, 302 Heckman Street, Phillipsburg, NJ.
