Myron (Mike) Michael Baron

Myron (Mike) Michael Baron, 87, of Palmer Township, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 13, 2023.

Mike is survived by his three children and their spouses: Cheryl Geiser (Kevin) and David Baron (Tammy), both of Milford, NJ, and Debbie Bisio (Peter) of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Lauren Geiser, Leah Roberts (Marcel), Alex, Lowell, Katie, and Sofia Bisio, and Kelly, Rich, Macie and Nevaeh Baron. In addition, he has one great-granddaughter, Morticia Roberts. Myron’s true love and wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Gerry) Marie Baron (Zugarek) predeceased him on August 26, 2022. He is also predeceased by his brother, Howard Baron.

Mike was born in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late Nathan and Ruth (Schwartz) Baron. After high school, he joined the US Marines (1953-1957) and was stationed in Korea, Japan and Guam. He was a frogman and a communications expert in the service. Later in life, he enjoyed sharing the stories of his many adventures while in the service.

Within a year of leaving the service, he met Gerry, and as he loved to tell it, knew instantly she was the one. They married exactly one year later on November 30, 1958. They were married for a wonderful 63 years!

Mike had many careers (delivery driver, owner of his own restaurant, “Baron’s Sandwich Shop,” mechanic, and finally Manager of Production Engineering at Revlon Manufacturing Plant in Edison, NJ where he worked for over 20 years). He was mostly self-taught, and his inquisitive, inventive spirit led him to have many successes in modifying machinery to be more efficient in the packaging processes.

Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed doing his own home remodeling and repair and had a new house built for his family. He loved woodwork and built many lovely furniture pieces that his family will always cherish. A lifelong learner, he taught himself computer science after retiring. His passion for computers led him to teach these skills to other adults at a local school and a retirement community in Florida.

Also in his retirement, Mike started a company called, “DVDs to Envy”, where he converted old home movies into digital format for families looking to restore cherished memories. He loved this work, and he treasured using his creativity and attention to detail to bring his customers’ memories back to life. He even invented an LED replacement lightbulb for the old 8 mm film projectors.

Mike loved people above all else, and like Gerry, his family was by far his greatest joy in life. He wanted his children to have a better life than he had and to be able to go on to further education after high school to be self-sufficient and successful. He even worked three jobs at a time to be able to fund their education. His children will never forget the three-week long cross country camping trip in a crew cab pickup truck from NJ to California to visit his parents. He made sure to create many wonderful memories by organizing annual family reunions that included Disney World, RV trips, lake houses, and Atlantic City, as well as the annual, entire family gathering for “Jewish Christmas.”

Mike will aways be remembered for his humor, big personality and even bigger heart as well as his mechanical talent and creativity.

A memorial celebration of Mike’s life will be taking place on August 19th 12noon - 3pm at his home in Easton, PA. We invite all that knew and loved him to stop by and share in the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love for any charitable donations given in his honor to go to one of Mike’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Salvation Army.

Mike was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who was enormously loved and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
