Joyce E. Barbadora

Joyce E. Barbadora, 89, of Abington Manor Memory Care passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on September 27th, 2023.

Born on March 21st, 1934, in Phillipsburg, NJ she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Ella Jane Wilhelm DeLong.

Joyce was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 51’ where she was a member of the PHS marching band.

After leaving High School she secured a job in the accounting department at JT Baker Chemical. Later in her career she worked for A&H Sportswear in the shipping department until her retirement.

Joyce was a former treasurer of the Alpha United Presbyterian Church, former secretary of the Alpha Public School PTO, past member of the Warren County Democratic Women and volunteer for the Meals On Wheels Program.

She was a diehard PHS football fan who bled garnet and gray and always looked forward to the Thanksgiving Day Game that she attended 81 times.

Her greatest joys in life were her family, cleaning, eating candy, shopping, giving presents all year round and talking about her childhood. She was the most generous, loving and caring woman anyone ever met. She was also the best mother we could have ever asked for.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Deborah Boylan and husband James of Stewartsville, NJ and Pamela Hajdu and husband John of Forks Township, PA; her grandsons Michael Boylan and wife Kaila, Kyle Boylan, Richard Hajdu and Matthew Hajdu and her great granddaughters, Charlotte and Jordyn. Joyce was pre deceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 67 years Richard; brothers, Ellsworth, Oliver, Kenneth, William and Byron, and sisters, Grace Scherer, Blanche Lehr, Evangeline Rice and Doris Klem.

A Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, at the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, 750 Belvidere Road, Phillipsburg, NJ, with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM. The interment will then be held at the United Presbyterian Cemetery, Alpha, NJ. The Finegan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Joyce’s family wishes to thank the staff and administration of Abington Manor Memory Care for the compassion, love and care that she received. We will be forever grateful!
