June Riggio, 97, of Hellertown, PA formerly of Alpha, NJ passed away on March 30, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 16, 1926 to Oscar and Ada (Daniels) Mutter. She was married for forty-five years to the late Joseph Riggio. We lost a wonderful mom, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
June was a member of Easton Area High School class of 1944. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church for fifty-two years before moving to Bangor, PA. She was a volunteer and sang in the senior chorus at the Slate Belt Senior Center in Bangor, until recently moving to Saucon Valley Manor in Hellertown. June enjoyed singing, dancing, bingo, and going on trips. She was an excellent knitter and made hundreds of baby caps for local hospitals.
June is survived by her daughters; Diane Ditze (Denis), CarolAnn Riggio, and Michele Tersigni (Terry), and daughter-in-law Linda Riggio (Joseph). Nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Sandra Stasak (William) and Sharon Scrafano (Ed), sister-in-law Claire Mutter (Gerald) and her cousin Shirley Schroeder, who she loved as a sister. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters Eleanor and Janet Herrlinger and brothers Gerald and Oscar Mutter as well as her beloved son Joseph Riggio Jr.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Finegan Funeral Home at 924 2nd Avenue in Alpha, NJ. A Funeral Mass will then be held at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 830 5th Avenue, also in Alpha. The interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
