Robert Griffith Bachman, of Bethlehem, PA, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 19, 1935, in Phillipsburg, NJ, Robert was the son of the late Griffith Valentine Bachman and Helen (Oberer) Bachman. Robert was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 57 years, Filomena (Luzzietti) Bachman.
After his graduation from Phillipsburg High School in 1957, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was first trained at Parris Island; upon completion, he was further trained at Camp LeJeune and guarded the National Security Agency. Corporal Robert G. Bachman was honorably discharged from the USMC. Following his service, Robert graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed by DuPont in Niagara Falls, NY, and retired from Union Carbide Corporation, in Bound Brook, NJ.
Robert is survived by his loving children, Carla Young, Caren Hooks, Carol Sedler and her husband Timothy, Robert Bachman II, and Cristen Klamp and her husband Douglas. Robert and Filomena were blessed with 12 grandchildren: Joshua Young, Jacob Young, Joseph Young, Christopher Hooks, Stephanie (Sedler) Lynn and her husband Martin, Timothy J. Sedler and his wife Haley, Cassandra Sedler, Rachel Bachman, Alyssa Bachman, Isabella Bachman, Luke Klamp, Michael Klamp; and two great-grandchildren, Martin and Noah Lynn. Robert was predeceased by his sister Lois Morgenstern and survived by his nieces Denise Ayre and Melissa Worl, and nephew Frederick Morgenstern.
Robert was passionate about golfing and all sporting events. Above all, Robert immensely enjoyed time spent with his beloved grandchildren.
Services will be private. A Requiem Mass will be held at Holy Ghost Church with interment at Holy Savior Cemetery. The Finegan Funeral Home, Palmer Township, will be handling the arrangements.
