Born August 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Margaret MacDonald Skinner Williams. Early in her life she worked at Tung Sol Electronics, Trans-o-gram and the Phillipsburg Sports Center.
What she loved most was raising her five children, along with her husband Benjamin. Her children are; Barb Badway and husband Rich, Deb Hosbach and husband Gary, Kim Jones and husband Tad, Benjamin Ervin Jr., and Jill Jones and husband Gary. Her grandchildren, who she spent much time with, Jarrett and wife Nessie, Nikki and husband Jeff, Lauren and husband Buck, Kaila, TJ, and Keaton, as well great grandchildren; Cole, Carson, Kennedy, and Piper. She is also survived by sisters, Jean Talpas and Peg Uvary and husband Sam.
Her summers were always spent with family in Long Beach Island and Myrtle Beach and enjoyed spending her winters in Clearwater, Florida. She was honored at the Steele Hill Youth Club for her many years of service, which included coaching cheering for all of her daughters. She was placed on the Wall of Fame for Steele Hill as well. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout their 67 years of marriage. She was an avid walker and enjoyed having neighborhood picnics every weekend and “Spaghetti Sunday” with her children. Ruth was a member of the Phillipsburg High School Class of 1956. She will be missed so much, but we have the most wonderful memories. In addition to her mother, she was also predeceased by brothers John and Robert and grandson Ricky.
Funeral services will be held privately. The Finegan Funeral Home in Phillipsburg is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad, 360 Prospect Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 or the Steele Hill Bulldogs, 355 Pursel Street, Phillipsburg, NJ.
